Cabot League Boundaries

The Cabot youth baseball program is (or was) chartered with Babe Ruth League, Inc. and Cal Ripken Baseball. The league boundaries, set by the governing organization, encompass the same area as that covered by the Cabot school district. (A map of the school district area can be found on the Cabot School District web site.)

If you live in the Cabot school district, you are eligible to play Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken baseball in Cabot. Contrary to what some may have been told, even if you live within the Ward city limits, you are still eligible to play ball in Cabot.

Furthermore, if you live in an area outside the Cabot school district that is not served by a Babe Ruth League/Cal Ripken Baseball program, you may also be eligible to play in Cabot. If there is no other Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken league closer to you than the Cabot league – or if you do not have to cross another Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken league’s area to do so, then you may register and play baseball in the Cabot program.

If, for example, the Beebe youth baseball program were not sanctioned by Babe Ruth League, Inc., then you would be eligible to play in Cabot because there is no other Babe Ruth program closer and you do not need to cross another league boundary to do so. Vilonia is another community whose closest Babe Ruth League program currently is the Cabot league.

Carlisle, Jacksonville, Lonoke and Sylvan Hills all currently have valid Babe Ruth League charters, so those who live within their respective league areas are not allowed to play in the Cabot league (although even if you have a Lonoke mailing address but your residence is actually within the Cabot school district area – as are many homes south of Cabot - you are still eligible to play in the Cabot league).

Penalty for Playing “Out of District”

Players who cross league boundaries to play in another area are “ineligible” players (playing out of district) and all games that they participate in are subject to forfeit (Babe Ruth League Rule 0.07). Babe Ruth League does not grant waivers to play out of district.

An official Babe Ruth League or Cal Ripken Baseball “all-star” tournament team that includes an ineligible player is also subject to forfeiture of any tournament games in which the ineligible player participated.
