SYLVAN HILLS CARDINALS ARE SW REGIONAL CHAMPS, DEFEAT CABOT 17-10
Cabot Rage is Runner-Up, Orange Grove Mississippi is Third, Benton National Awarded Sportsmanship Trophy

The 2008 Southwest Region 6 & Under T-Ball tournament came to a close on Tuesday evening with the Cabot Rage All-Stars meeting the Sylvan Hills All-Stars in the championship game.  The Rage team jumped out to an early lead but the Cardinals came back to tie the game and then took a late lead.  With the score 16-10 in the top of the 5th inning, the Rage had to hold the line to have a chance to even the score, but the Cardinals brought a run home to increase their lead to seven runs, and ended the Rage comeback hopes.

The Sylvan Hills Cardinals All-Stars were crowned the Regions best T-Ball team with the presentation of the team and individual championship awards.  The team remained unbeaten throughout the entire tournament to earn the title.

Immediately after the game the teams lined up on the field to greet the Benton National All-Stars, who returned  to accept the Regional Tournament Sportsmanship Award.  The award is made by the umpires and tournament officials to the team that best exemplifies the sportsmanship code of the Babe Ruth League.

The Cabot Rage All-Stars were then presented with their team and individual awards to signify their accomplishment in placing second in the Region.  The team battled back through the loser's bracket to play in the championship game, going 6-0 in a two-day stretch while playing three games per day and, even playing back-to-back-to-back games on Monday to qualify for the finals.

Congratulations and best of luck in the future to the players and coaches of these fine teams!  We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the players and their families who came to Cabot to make this tournament a resounding success.

RAGE COACH KEEPS PROMISE

Rage coach Rob Quarnstrom made good on his pledge to race around the diamond in a purple dress if the team made the finals.

Decked out in a stylish floral design, with matching hair, Rob became the focus of many cameras as he streaked across the infield following the awards presentation.

Orange Grove Stingers Take Third in the Championship Bracket

The Rage team had to come back to tie the score in the 5th and pulled ahead by three runs in the top of the 6th inning.  The Stingers from Mississippi began a rally of their own in the bottom of the inning but came up one run short in a game that will be remembered for a while.  The Cabot Rage team will meet the Sylvan Hills Cardinals for the championship on Tuesday evening beginning at 6:00 PM.
